Drums, PA and formerly of Dunmore, PA March 18, 1932 ~ June 29, 2014 Date of Service: July 2, 2014Vera J. Fidiam of Drums, formerly of Dunmore, died peacefully Sunday morning in the VNA Hospice at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. She and her husband, Robert T. Fidiam, would have celebrated 61 years of marriage on July 4.
Born in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Mary Riccardo Carra, and was a graduate of Dunmore High School. She was a former member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Dunmore, and was a member of the Good Shepherd Church, Drums. She was a member of the Garden Club and the Rosary Group in the Sand Springs housing development.
She enjoyed traveling, cooking and family gatherings. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Also surviving are a daughter; Mary Kay Farrand, Mountaintop; a son, Robert P. Fidiam and wife, Lynn, Elmhurst; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a sister, Ann Valentine, Coppell, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Donnini; and a brother, Salvatore Carra.
The funeral will be Wednesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Chestnut Street, Dunmore. Interment, Mount Carmel Cemetery, Dunmore.
Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VNA Hospice, 301 Delaware Ave., Olyphant, PA 18447.
