Naomi G. Finkelstein, 86, Scranton, died Wednesday at home.

She and her husband Harold celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on August 14th.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Rabbi Jacob and Regina Rappaport Glassman.

She was a graduate of Scranton Central High School and was a member of the Beth Shalom Congregation.

Prior to retirement  she was employed by  Lackawanna County Work Release program.

Naomi was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister and aunt who enjoyed cooking and being with family.

Also surviving are two sons, Dr. Jerome Finkelstein and wife Polly, Northville, Michigan and Gary Lee, Scranton and nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sheri Finkelstein and a son, Barry Finkelstein, a sister Muriel Bodek and brothers, Kenneth, Monroe, Aaron and Seymour Glassman.

A funeral service will be held Sunday at 11:00 A.M. in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 East Drinker St., Dunmore.  Interment  in Dalton Jewish Cemetery.

Shiva will be observed in the Community room at Webster Towers, 500 N. Webster Ave., Scranton,  Sunday 7-9 P.M. and Monday 2-4 P.M.

The family will receive friends Sunday morning in the funeral  home from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.

Memorial   contributions may be made to Jewish Family Service, 615 Jefferson Ave., in the memo please direct to the Sheri and Barry Finkelstein Fund.

Words cannot express the love or loss...only the world is not quite as lovely a place without Naomi...she brought happiness and kindness wherever she went...My deepest sympathies, and thoughts and prayers are with you all...Hal, Gerry and Gary!!! love your forever friend! Michele

Words cannot express the love or the loss....only the world is a less lovely place without Naomi...My deepest sympathy, prayers and love go out to Hal, Gary and Gdoghouerry!

Deepest Sympathy & Prayers. A very nice person Yes she was an excellent cook. Also condolences from Emily Weinburg Trunzo she was Sheri's 3rd grade teacher. Special condolences to Hal Dr Gerry & Gary . Hal maybe one day you could come visit me I am at Scranton Manor 819 Jefferson Ave You where always nice to me would love to see you and the family.
