Sylvia Ganz, Scranton, died Saturday at Regional Hospital of Scranton. She was the wife of the late Jerry Ganz, who died in 2006.

Born in Bangor, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Don and Bertha Friedman Shapiro. 

Together she and her late husband operated the Jerry Ganz Construction Co. Inc., Scranton, for 45 years.

She was a member of the Machzikeh Hadas Congregation, Amit Women, the Chevra Kadisha Society and the Scranton Hebrew Day School.

Surviving are two sons, Jeff and wife, Dassy; and David and wife, Rifky; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Rose Brody; nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Abraham Shapiro; and a sister, Geraldine Kaprow.

Funeral services were held Sunday in the Machzikeh Hadas Congregation, Scranton, by Rabbi Mordechai Fine. Interment in the Dalton Jewish Cemetery.

Shiva is being observed at the residence, 820 Madison Ave., Scranton, through Friday morning.

Jeff, David and families my sincere condolences on the passing of your Mother. Many wonderful memories of your Mother and Father, best neighbors we could have had. Thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Mary Lou Jennings
