Marian L. McGrawDunmore, PA May 31, 1924 ~ December 6, 2017 Date of Service: December 11, 2017
Marian L. McGraw, 93, Dunmore, died Wednesday morning at Regional Hospital, Scranton. She was the wife of the late John (Jack) McGraw, who passed away Feb. 24, 2015. They had been married for 68 years. She and Jack spent their summers residing at Moosic Lakes.
Born in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Canavan Judge. Marian was educated in the Dunmore Public School System. Her first job was with Bell Telephone of Pennsylvania. She served as bookkeeper for Jack's business, McGraw's Service Station, on Blakely Street in Dunmore. Marian later worked in the catalog department of Sears Roebuck. She retired from the Dunmore School District where she worked as a clerical aide at the Jefferson Middle School and the Dunmore Elementary Center.
Marian was a proud wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and these were the roles she enjoyed most. She loved having her family around her, especially during holidays and summers at Moosic Lakes. Marian and Jack also enjoyed wonderful social gatherings with their friends and neighbors at the lake. Many happy times were spent sitting around their oversized picnic table. Marian was a good friend to many and enjoyed giving advice, opinions and suggestions, or just listening. She was faithfully supportive and would encourage friends and family to work hard and do their best. Marian followed her own advice and was a presence of strength and compassion to family and friends.
The family would like to thank Personal Home Health Services who provided health care and therapy services during the past three years. Their care and support helped Marian to continue living independently in her Dunmore home. Special thanks to Rose Marie, who worked as Marian's caretaker and became her friend. Her kindness and support brightened Marian's days.
