Mafalda Hleiva, 84, of Clarks Green, died Friday morning at Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton. She is survived by her husband, Joseph.

Born in Cosenzo, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Elizabeth Gaudio Runco and was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish, Dunmore. Prior to retirement she worked for many years managing a hotel with her husband.

She was a member of the Red Hat’s Society and the Over 55 Club at the Throop Civic Center.  She enjoyed traveling with her husband and enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Also surviving are daughters; Deborah Spadine and husband David, Bradenton, Fl and Barbara Herring and husband Ralph, Dunmore. Grandchildren; Christine Sossong and husband Benji, Brian Misiura and wife Kathryn and Kyle Herring. Great-grandsons; Darren and Dylan. A sister; Mary Rebar, Throop. Brothers; John Runco, Throop and Frank Runco and wife Eleanor, Peckville and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter and a sister, Vincentina Runco and a brother, Clement Runco.

The funeral will be Monday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore with Mass at 9:30am in St. Mary’s Church, Chestnut St., Dunmore.

Interment, St. Michael’s Cemetery, Dunmore.
