Linda A. Jones, 68 of Clifford Township, formerly of Scranton, passed away peacefully with her son by her side, Friday at Geisinger Mountain View Care Center.  She was the widow of William B. Jones Jr., who passed away on November 29, 1998.

            Born in Taylor, daughter of the late George and Margaret Guillorn Stalbird, she was a 1966 graduate of Taylor-Moosic High School.  Linda was previously employed by Fitchburg Coated Products, Rita Hubshman Floral, and Fleet Bank.  She was raised as a member of Queen of the Apostles Parish in Avoca.

            Linda loved life at her home at Cottrell Lake and spending time with neighbors in her tight-knit community.  She lived for her yearly summer vacations with her friends.  Scranton Prep Basketball and her love for the players and coaches was evident every time she attended a Cavalier varsity, junior varsity or freshman game.  Linda was best known for her kindness, positive attitude, and smile.  She could not have been a better mother and supporter of her son.

            Surviving a son, William B. Jones III, Clifford Township, and companion Joanne Holgate; a brother Richard Stalbird and wife Sandra, Palm Harbor, FL.; an aunt Catherine Casper, Avoca; several nephews and cousins.

            Linda’s family and friends would like to thank the doctors, nurses, physician assistants, aides, and therapists at Geisinger Medical Center, Geisinger Community Medical Center, and Geisinger Mountain View Care Center for their dedication and compassionate care. Her son, family, and friends were incredibly touched by the show of support and love Linda received from local basketball players, coaches, and officials. 

            The funeral will be Thursday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc. 318 E. Drinker St. Dunmore with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30AM in Saint Paul Church, 1510 Penn Ave., Scranton.  Interment Shady Lane Cemetery, South Abington Township.

Friends may call Wednesday from 4-7 P.M at the funeral home.
