Joseph J. Finnegan, 62, of Scranton, died Sunday, August 16th at home.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late John A. and Marian McCormick Finnegan. He was a graduate of the former Bishop Hannon High School and attended Lackawanna Junior College. Prior to retirement, he worked for Henningsen Storage Company as a supervisor.

Surviving are sisters, Patricia McAllister and husband Brian, Olean, NY; Mary A. Gaffney and husband James; and Jean Finnegan, all of Scranton; a brother, Ambrose J. and wife Irene, Downingtown, PA; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John A. Finnegan

A Memorial mass will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Paul’s Church, Penn Ave., Scranton.

Inurnment, St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow.

There will be no public calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society, 712 S. Keyser Ave. Taylor, PA 18517.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Joe was one of my best friends throughout our high school and college years; took many road trips with Joe along. I remember him for his humor and his love of family.

I wanted to express my sympathies to Joe's family. He was a great friend and great fun growing up together. We went to St Paul's together from first to 10th grade. My condolences.
