Joseph F. Pigga, C.P.A., Dunmore, died Sunday in the Regional Hospital of Scranton.  He and his wife, the former Ann Sedlak, celebrated 38 years of marriage on June 16, 2016.

Born in Scranton, son of the late Frank and Josephine Berardinelli Pigga, he was a graduate of Dunmore high School Class of 1974, and went on to attain his B.S. in accounting from Marywood College.  He was a certified public accountant with an office in Kingston.  Joseph was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Dunmore, and had served as president of its finance committee.  He was an avid runner who enjoyed time spent with his family and friends.

Also surviving is a son, Joseph Pigga, Ph. D. and wife Janice of Bethlehem; a daughter, Jessica Pigga, a graduate student at the University of Delaware in Newark, DE; a grandson, Jackson Pigga; sisters Rose Marie Wandra and husband, Phil, Peachtree City, GA; and Karen Pigga Capulish of Neunan, GA; brothers David Pigga and wife Gail, Lake Ariel; Dr. James Pica and wife Michelle , Greenburg, PA; and Frank Pigga and wife Pat, Dunmore; as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The funeral will be Thursday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. in St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Chestnut St., Dunmore.  Interment to  follow in Dunmore Cemetery.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Contributions in Joseph’s memory may be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, 322 Chestnut St., Dunmore, 18512.

I was saddened and shocked to hear of my cousin Joe's passing. I got to meet him for the first time at Aunt Mary's funeral lunch and he seemed like a wonderful guy. I am so very sorry for your loss. I will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers. Love, Linda Lopez (Aunt Gloria's daughter)

Darlene and I were shocked and saddened to hear of Joe's passing. On behalf of my entire family I extend our most heartfelt sorrow and condolences. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.
