Jeannie Donahoe, 66, formerly of Dunmore, died peacefully Monday evening surrounded by family and friends at her Lake Ariel residence after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Jeff Donahoe. They had celebrated 47 years of marriage on Feb. 12.   
Born in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Alice Crane Gilmartin. She was an active member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Dunmore and the community for over 60 years. Jeannie was a graduate of Dunmore Central Catholic class of 1969. She furthered her education at Lackawanna Junior College. She then accompanied her new husband to Springfield, Mass., for completion of his studies.
Jeannie was instrumental in the early development of her grandchildren. Other passions included cooking, travel, dancing and entertaining friends and family. She was the consummate hostess and will be remembered for her ability to please everyone.
Her family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses and health providers that offered outstanding services on behalf of Jeannie, which added quality to her life.
Also surviving are her four children, Jeff Donahoe Jr. and his wife, Michelle, Lake Ariel; Megan Barrett and her husband, Michael, Clarks Summit; Tim Donahoe and his wife, Rachel, Dunmore; and Samantha Donahoe, Lake Ariel; a sister, Alice Gilligan, Springfield, Mass.; seven cherished grandchildren, Patrick and Claire Donahoe, Liam, Henry and Ethan Barrett, Molly and Jake Donahoe; nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Gilmartin.
The funeral will be Friday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St. in Dunmore with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 a.m. in St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Chestnut Street in Dunmore. 
Friends may call Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Center, 2010 Adams Ave., Scranton, PA 18509.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Jeannie and I attended grade and high school together. I will always remember her being friendly and her smile. We had some good times during those 12 years.
Your family will be in my thought and prayers during this sad time.
