Jean LewisScranton, PA September 30, 1920 ~ August 14, 2018 Date of Service: August 16, 2018
Jean Lewis, 98, Scranton, died Tuesday afternoon in the Jewish Home of Eastern Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Bernard M. Lewis, D.D.S., on Sept. 30, 1987.
Born in Scranton, the youngest of six children, of the late Barney and Fannie Gutstein Rosenberg, she was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and a former member of Beth Shalom Congregation.
She and her husband adored each other and loved being together, whether it was motorcycling around, spending time in the horse stables - as Bernie was a skilled horseman - or caring for numerous springer spaniels that they owned throughout their lives. She was an avid gardener and nature enthusiast who had a wonderful sense of humor.
Her family would like to thank the nurses and staff on the second floor of the Jewish Home for all the dedicated care given to Jean.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Edith Gross, and Martha, Louis, Harry and David Rosenberg.
Graveside services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Dalton Jewish Cemetery by Rabbi Dovid Saks of the Jewish Heritage Connection.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, Clarks Summit, PA 18411.
