Dunmore, PA July 20, 1924 ~ May 28, 2018 Date of Service:

Irma E. Sleboda, 93, of Dunmore, passed away peacefully on Monday morning at home. She was the youngest daughter of the late Roy Colonel Kinsey and the late Lottie Bell Payne. Born in Carson County, South Dakota, she grew up in Madison, Tennessee.

Wife of the late George S. Sleboda and mother of four boys, George S.Jr. and wife Rosemary, Roy M. and wife Sue, Matthew P. and wife Jamie, Martin S. and wife JoAnn. Irma had thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by a son; Matthew, a daughter-in-law, JoAnn and siblings, Chester, Ralph, Gilbert, Otto, Beulah, Grace, Mary Elenora, Hazel, Elvin and Florence.

Irma had a strong faith in God and was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Scranton. She had an irrepressible curiosity and was interested and well versed in a wide range of subjects. After God and her family, her main love was of animals and nature. After raising her family, serving on PTA’s and a term as school director, Irma attended Kutztown University to attain her BS in Art Education at the age of 65. After retiring from teaching at 78, she worked as a “senior companion” to provide companionship for the elderly and infirm. She loved people and in her later years she could be spotted at Price Chopper and Turkey Hill enjoying a conversation with anyone while having her coffee. Known as the “tomato lady” by the local children, she always had a cookie ready for anyone who knocked on her door. Irma will be sorely missed by all who knew her. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Memorial Contributions can be made to ADRA World Relief Organization at www.ADRA.org.

Arrangements by the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St. Dunmore.
