Gayle Baine Brezack

Providence, RI and formerly of Scranton, PA June 4, 1953 ~ June 25, 2015 Date of Service: Pending

We regret to announce the untimely passing of Gayle Baine Brezack, 62, on June 24th, 2015 at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, AZ. Gayle was born on June 4, 1953 in Scranton, PA.  She was the daughter of Eileen Garber Baine and the late Jack Baine. Gayle was a graduate of Scranton Central High School.  She received her Master's degree in audiology from Emerson University in Boston, MA, where she later worked in the Admissions Department. She was a Master of Reiki and was certified in reflexology and Healing Touch, compassionately helping ease the suffering of the terminally ill.

Gayle was an active participant of her community. She participated in the Chevra Kadisha (Jewish burial society) in the Greater Boston area, volunteered in the Sudbury library. She was a lifetime member of the Scranton Jewish Community Center, and was active member of the Women of Brandeis University and Congregation Beth Sholom of Providence, RI.   As a board member of the Hillside School of Marlborough, MA, Gayle was instrumental in remodeling the school.  She was devoted to helping children in need in the U.S., Israel, and around the world. She read to children with disabilities and quietly and generously supported the Fresh Air Fund, the Chicago Hope Academy, and dozens of other causes.

Gayle loved children and animals. She was a talented home decorator whose whimsical yet artistic style brought a smile to your face. She loved to travel and learn about other cultures. She was passionate about equal rights, regardless of station in life.

Gayle was the glue of the family – always checking in on everyone, hosting memorable family get-togethers and opening her home for family visits.  She generated energy, life and warmth and was immediately beloved by all who met her. Gayle had a heart of gold – she gave and gave and was always there for you. She was deeply spiritual and amazingly intuitive, with a tremendous gift for connecting with people and a keen sensitivity to the needs of others. Gayle will be especially remembered for her sense of humor and her contagious belly laugh – when she laughed the whole world laughed with her!

Gayle is survived by her mother Eileen Baine, husband John Brezack, son Joshua and his wife Cynthia, son Zachary and his fiancée Alie, brothers Donald and Neil Baine, nine nieces and nephews, three great nieces, dog Gabby, and cats Wrinkles and Creases.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Jay Stephen Baine.

The funeral will be held today at 1pm in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore. Services will be led by Rabbi Barry Dolinger, Gayle's rabbi and nephew-in-law. Interment will be in the Dalton Jewish Cemetery.

Friends will be received during shiva at her mother's residence, 550 Clay Avenue, Apt. 10E in Scranton on Sunday night from 7-9 p.m., Monday through Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and from 7-9 p.m., and Friday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made in Gayle's name to one of the many charities listed on John Brezack's Facebook page.
