Frances M. Tomko

Dunmore, PA September 22, 1929 ~ September 14, 2017 Date of Service: September 19, 2017

Frances M. Tomko, 87, of Dunmore, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday afternoon at the Dunmore Health Care Center. She was the widow of the late Joseph S. Tomko, Sr., who passed away on April 8, 2016. The couple had been married for 64 years.

Born in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Bernetta Angerson  D’Arienzo. She was a graduate of Dunmore High School and a member of SS Anthony and Rocco Parish and was employed by the Anchor Davit Corporation prior to her retirement.

Frances was a kind, thoughtful and compassionate person. Her life was defined by the care for others as she routinely made phone calls, sent cards and made visits to friends and family on every occasion. Frances shared a special bond with her brother, Phil D’Arienzo, who made her every morning at Dunmore Health Care a cherished memory that will live in her heart forever. She was very proud of her two sons and four grand-children, as they provided her with everlasting love and devotion up to her last moments on this earth.  Most of all she was a faithful and caring wife who was truly the foundation for the overall well-being of her family. She will be missed by so many people.

A woman of faith, she faced many physical and medical challenges in the later years of her life. Her love of God and reliance on prayer saw her through many difficult moments.

The family would like to acknowledge her extended family at Dunmore Health Care, where she resided for the past four years . Words cannot fully express how much they meant to her. Then there is Frances’ angel, Bonnie Poklemba of Personal Home Health and Hospice, who  cared for her Franny  in a very special way.  A special thank you to Dr. Enrico Serine, who was her family physician and trusted friend for over thirty years.

She is survived by her sons, Gerard and his wife Margaret, Hatboro, PA.; Joseph S., Jr. Dunmore; a brother; Phil D’Arienzo, Dunmore.  Four grand-children; Amy Magazu and her husband Joseph, West Deptford, NJ., Brian Tomko and his wife Olivia, East Norriton, PA; Kyle Tomko and Anne Marie Tomko, Dunmore.  She also has two great-grandchildren, Charlie and Natalie Tomko.

She was preceded in death by a son, Anthony.

The funeral will be Tuesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore with Mass at 9:30am in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith St. Dunmore.

Interment, Dunmore Cemetery

Dear Jerry, Joseph, Philly and family,
What a wonderful and very special lady. So many fond memories of our times together. She was mom's dearest friend. I hope that you find comfort knowing what wonderful sons and dear brother you were to her throughout her life. She will be missed!
