Eleanor M. Gianzanti, 89, of Dunmore passed away peacefully at Willowbrook Place on Friday. She was married to the late Frank M. Gianzanti, the man she knew she was going to marry from the moment she met him.

Born in Dickson City, she was the daughter of late Stanley and Stephania Homitz. Eleanor was educated in the Dickson City School District. Family always came first for her and she found it necessary to leave school before graduation to help support them. She was always eager to obtain her diploma and later returned to school successfully earning her GED at age 72. Prior to her retirement, she spent many years working for the Giant Market in Dunmore. Eleanor loved gardening, knitting and long walks through Dunmore as well as just sitting on her front porch talking to her neighbors. She also enjoyed playing bingo at Willowbrook and teaching Polish to her fellow residents and the staff. She was a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish in Dunmore.

She is survived by her son Frank and wife Marlene, South Abington Township, granddaughter Christiana Gianzanti and grandson Paolo Gianzanti, both of South Abington Township. She is also survived by her sister, Phyllis Sunday, Dickson City as well as nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers Stanley, Anthony and Martin Homitz and sisters Stella Toto, Helen Ogroski, Ceil Zalauskas and Irene Homitz.

The family would like to thank the staff at Willowbrook Place for their exceptional care of Eleanor over the last four years.

The funeral will be Tuesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc. 318 East Drinker Street in Dunmore with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30AM in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith Street in Dunmore. Interment will take place on the family lot in Dunmore Cemetery.

Friends may call Monday from 4PM-7PM.
