Louis F. Mecca, 73, of Scranton, died Saturday morning at home. He is survived by his wife the former Virginia “Ginger” Gill. The couple celebrated 53 years of marriage on November 25th.

Born in Dunmore, he was the son of the late Peter and Lucy Sileo Mecca and was a graduate of Dunmore High School Class of 1958. Prior to retirement he worked at the former Techniglas, Pittston.

He was a member of Mary, Mother of God Parish, Scranton and had a great devotion to God. He prayed for everyone he knew was struggling. He donated to any charity he could and also donated to many parishes and missions in the name of friends and family for birthdays, anniversaries, sickness, mourning or just needing prayer. He always put other’s needs ahead of his own. A devoted husband and father, he was gentle, kind, loving and caring. His sense of humor, fatherly advice, gift of conversation, caregiving, and his heart of gold will be greatly missed.

Also surviving are children, Justine Perry, Archbald; Domenica Tigue, Scranton; April Collum and husband Jim, Kingsley; Colleen
Mecca, Scranton; Virginia Czankner, Throop; and Peter Mecca and wife Jeannine, East Brunswick, N.J.; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Joseph Mecca, Dunmore; and John Mecca and wife Evelyn, Trinity, FL;  and sisters, Maria Warehouse and husband Bill, Throop; Ann Reilly, Dunmore; and Delores Machinski, Pickerington, OH.

The funeral will be Thursday with Mass at 9:30 a.m  in Holy Rosary Church, 316 William St., Scranton.

Inurnment, St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow.

There will be no public calling hours.

My prayers are with the entire Mecca family. May Louis rest in eternal peace. A fellow member of the class of 1958.

to the MECCA FAMILY, sorry for your loss. I knew LOUIS back in grade school, and he was a gentleman, all through school. Iam also from the class of 1958.
