Genevieve L. Palermo, 90, longtime resident of Dunmore, died Sunday morning in the Regional Hospital of Scranton. She was the wife of the late Joseph G. Palermo who died in 2002.
Born and raised in Veaux-Anigny, France she was the daughter of the late Leopold and Maria Lucy Deligne Herdhuin. She was a longtime member of the former Christ the King Church in Dunmore.
Her family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff on the 2nd floor of the Dunmore Health Care Center, for the compassion and care shown to Genevieve during her stay with them.
Surviving are two sons, Joseph Palermo Jr. and his wife Deborah, and James Palermo, of Jessup, two grandsons, James Palermo Jr. and Joseph Palermo III, a granddaughter, Gina Palermo, three sisters, Marcelle Maricat, Raymonde Tricot, and Huguette Douez, all of France, and many nieces and nephews in both the United States and France.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Bernetta Maria Palermo and three brothers, Robert, Raymond, and Marcel Herdhuin.
The funeral will be Thursday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc. 318 East Drinker Street in Dunmore with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in the Immaculate Conception Church, East Gibson Street and Taylor Avenue in Scranton. Interment will follow the mass in St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow.
