Dorothy F. Malos, 89, of Dunmore, died Sunday at Moses Taylor Hospital. She was the wife of William Charles Malos, who died Jan. 24, 2009.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Harold and Margaret Rudy Secoolish, Dorothy was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and had formerly been employed by International Correspondence Schools as a secretary.

She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Church, Dunmore, and was a talented seamstress and enjoyed cooking authentic Ukrainian meals, doing jigsaw puzzles and working in her yard. 

Dorothy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, family member and friend who will be dearly missed. In addition to being an animal, polka dancing and music enthusiast, she was proud to be a loving and doting grandmother to all her grandchildren.

Dorothy's family would like to offer its heartfelt thanks to Sandra Slowey for all the devoted and wonderful care she gave to Dorothy.

Surviving are a daughter, Mary Blattberg and husband, David, New York City; three sons, Charles and wife, Linda, Wall Twp., N.J.; David and wife, Elizabeth, Dunmore; and Richard and wife, Karen, Woodstown, N.J.; 12 grandchildren, Sara Ruane, William Blattberg, Rebecca, Julia, Anna, Nicholas, Katherine, Daniel, Christopher, Maryanne, Timothy and Catherine Malos; a sister, Ann Regni, Scranton; three aunts, Betty Ruddy, Irene Artfitch and Dorothy Aversano; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was also preceded in death by a son, William J. Malos, in 2016.

The funeral will be Wednesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Divine Liturgy at 9 a.m. in St. Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Church, 511 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, to be celebrated by the Rev. Robert W. Lozinski, C.S.C. Interment, parish cemetery, Dunmore.

Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m., with a Parastas service at 7:30.
