Anthony “Corky” DiLeo, 93, Scranton, died Thursday afternoon surrounded by his family. His wife, the former Marion R. Hynosky, preceded him in death in 2006.
Born and raised in the Bunker Hill Section of Dunmore, he was the son of the late John and Nancy D’Ambrosia DiLeo. He attended Dunmore public schools and was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Scranton. He served honorably in the United States Army during World War II. Corky and his brother Sam were in the restaurant and night club business on Lackawanna Avenue in downtown Scranton for many years.
Corky was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who was dedicated to providing for his family. He will always be best known for his quick wit and generosity. He will be missed by his family and friends more than words can express. He cherished the longtime friendships he had with so many.
Surviving are four daughters, Toni Ann Miele, Scranton, Diane DiLeo, Scranton, Mary Ann Chiarelli and her husband Frank, Olyphant, and Terri Cesarini and her husband Joseph, Moscow; two sons, Anthony J. DiLeo Jr. and his wife Donna, Moscow, and John J. DiLeo, Rehoboth Beach, DE; two brothers, Samuel M. DiLeo and his wife Helen Rose, Scranton, and John “Junior” DiLeo, Del Ray Beach, FL, and a sister, Mary Broadhurst, Lewes, DE, thirteen grandchildren, Paul, Kara, Bobby, Taylor, John, Anthony, Nicholas, Alexandria, Dominique, Angelina, Brittany, Nicole, Jade, four great grandchildren-Gavin, Jase, Lily and Chloe, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister Betty Loury, his niece Darlene DiLeo and a great grandson, Gabrielle.
The Family wants to thank Dr Huang as well as Hospice of the Sacred Heart along with his Primary caretakers- His Daughters and Niece, Linda Leff for their Extraordinary Care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 11AM in the Immaculate Conception Church, East Gibson Street and Taylor Avenue in Scranton. Interment will follow the mass in the family lot in Dunmore Cemetery. Friends may call Monday morning from 9AM-11AM in the church.
