Ann Marie Del Vecchio, 72, of Dunmore, died Thursday in Hospice Community Care, Dunmore after an illness. Her husband Anthony J. Del Vecchio died June 15, 2011.

Born in Scranton, She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret Bird Holland and was a member of SS Anthony and Rocco Parish, Dunmore. She was a graduate of St. Patrick’s High School, Scranton and was formerly employed by Haddon Craftsman, Dunmore Candy Kitchen and most recently by Marywood University in the Dining Services Department.

She enjoyed attending church picnics throughout the area and especially enjoyed spending time with her dog, Casey. She had a passion for baking and painting ceramics throughout her life. She was a kind, compassionate and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Barry Minora and the nurses and staff of Hospice Community Care for all of their care and compassion during Ann’s courageous battle with colon cancer.

Surviving are daughters; Kim Kanavy and husband Thomas, Victoria, Minnesota; Dr. Donna Hart and husband Donald, Scranton. A son; Thomas and wife Nina, Dunmore; grandchildren; Caroline and Kristen Kanavy and Nyla Del Vecchio; a sister, Jean Wright, Levittown, Pa; nieces; Kathy Farley and Karen Browndorf, a nephew; Robert Wright and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by a brother, William Holland.

The funeral will be Tuesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore with Mass at 9:30am in St. Rocco’s Church, Bunker Hill section of Dunmore.

Interment, Dunmore Cemetery

Friends may call Monday from 5-8pm.
