John P. "Jack" Hadley Jr., 82, of Dunmore, died Sunday in the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center, Scranton. He and his wife, the former Jean Carter, celebrated 59 years of marriage on April 19.

Born in Scranton, son of the late John P. Sr. and Mary Twaddle Hadley, he was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Dunmore, and was a World War II Army veteran. He was a graduate of Olyphant High School and was employed by the former Erie-Lackawanna Railroad for 40 years as a conductor.

He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed playing cards. He cherished time spent with family, especially with his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Also surviving are two sons, Jack and wife, Dale, Dunmore; and Bob and wife, Anne Marie, Dunmore; two daughters, Nancy Birrane and husband, John, Dunmore; and Sally Luongo and husband, Tony, Scranton; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Ted Hadley; and a grandson, Brian P. Hadley.

The funeral will be Wednesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Chestnut Street, Dunmore. Interment, Dunmore Cemetery.
