Thomas J. Perry, 95, of Dunmore, died early Saturday at Linwood Nursing and Rehabilitation, Scranton. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, the former Joan L. McCarthy, in 2016.
Born in Mayfield, son of the late Cecil Hines Perry, he was a graduate of Olyphant High School Class of 1943, and had been employed at both Mother’s Laundry and Sarno and Sons prior to his retirement.
Thomas was a hard worker whose life centered around his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed reading mystery novels and would look forward to having breakfast at Cugino’s with his best friend, Mike Caputo.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Linwood Nursing and Rehabilitation and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the care and compassion shown towards Thomas during his time of need.
Surviving are sons Thomas Perry II and wife Mary, Elmhurst; John Perry and wife Belinda, Peckville, who were his caregivers; David Perry and wife Michele, Archbald; and Mark Perry and wife Donna, Westminster, MD; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law and caretaker, Carol Oprisko, Dunmore; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was also preceded in death by brothers, Vincent and Austin Perry, and sisters, Rose Fallon McCreary and Betty Cancelli.
A funeral service will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
