Suzanne T. Severe, 84, Scranton, died Saturday at Elan Skilled Nursing & Rehab, Scranton.
Born in Bridgeport, CT, daughter of the late Stephen and Eleanor Mayock Pendrak, she earned her associate’s degree from Lackawanna College, and for 30 years had served as the kitchen manager for Beth Shalom Congregation, as she was also a Kosher supervision specialist. Sue was renowned for her catering, cooking, planning, and preparing countless events and Kidushim for the Scranton community.
A dedicated community volunteer and member of the Chevra Kadisha, she was loved and appreciated for her devotion to family and friends, the community, and always putting the needs of others first.
She is survived by her children, Aaron Severe and wife Nina of Harrisburg, Gerhson Severe of Scranton, and Heidi Tsuberi and husband Shlomo of Florida; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Steven J. Pendrak of Moscow, Saundra Ehman of Rochester, NY, and Sally Giersberg and husband Gustave of Missouri; nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Monday, May 18th at the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore with a service at 1 p.m. by Rabbi Mordechai Fine and Rabbi Dovid Saks. Family and friends may pay their respects from noon until the time of service.
Interment will follow in the Dalton Jewish Cemetery.
Friends will be received during shiva at Elan Skilled Nursing & Rehab (Jewish Home), 1101 Vine St., Scranton on Monday from 4-7 pm; Tuesday & Wednesday 2-7 pm; and Thursday 11am-3pm.
