Salvatore A. Pusateri, Jr., 90, Dunmore, died early Tuesday morning surrounded by his loving family. His wife, the former Carmel Marzolino, died in 1982.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Saveria Ragona Pusateri. Sal was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School Class of 1950, served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and was a long-time member of SS. Anthony & Rocco Parish in Dunmore and its Holy Name Society. Prior to retirement he worked as the buyer of the shoe department for The Scranton Dry Goods and then was employed by Specialty Records in Olyphant.
Sal, who will be remembered as a soft-spoken gentleman, was extremely proud of his Italian heritage which led him to eat pasta every day. He was truly a great father and wonderful grandfather who enjoyed watching Philadelphia Phillies baseball games, Andy Griffith and traveling to Minooka Bakery every Saturday for many years.
Sal’s family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Marywood Heights for the care and compassion shown to him during his stay with them.
Surviving are a daughter Carmel Hopkins and her husband John, Dunmore, two granddaughters, Sarah Amabile and her husband Christopher, Archbald, and Mia Hopkins Raymond and her husband Eric, New Jersey, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, as well as a great grand dog named Nala, who he would FaceTime every day.
Sal was preceded in death by his five siblings, his sisters Mary Coggins and Josephine Marzolino and his three brothers, Anthony, Joseph, and Robert.

The funeral will be Monday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc. 318 East Drinker Street in Dunmore with Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith Street, Dunmore. Interment to follow in the Cathedral Cemetery.
