Mildred Mazietis, 84, South Abington Township, died Saturday afternoon at Geisinger-Community Medical Center in Scranton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Gerald Mazietis, on March 19, 2008.
Born in Maplewood, PA on September 27, 1941 as one of 12 children to the late George and Frances Pacholec Colwell, she was a faithful member of the Church of St. Gregory in Clarks Summit and attended every Sunday while her health allowed her. She loved being outside and spending time tending to her flowers and vegetable garden. Millie always enjoyed socializing, whether it was at the farmer’s market, walking with her friends, or going out to lunch with them. Being with people just made her feel so happy.
Surviving are her daughters, Jacqueline Benson (Johnny), Karen Mazietis, and Diane Buchanan (late husband Neville); grandchildren Katrina, Dustin, Chelsea, the late Gino, Samuel, and Michael; several great-grandchildren; her sister Shirley Edwards; her brother Charles Colwell; nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Clarence, Thomas, George, John, Claire Arnett, Betty Cox, Dorothy Joyce; as well as 2 infant siblings.
A graveside service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in Cathedral Cemetery, Oram St., Scranton.
