Michael C. Phipps, Jr. - "Mike", 30, of Dunmore, died Saturday morning at the Hospital of University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

He is survived by his wife Brittaney Phipps of Dunmore. They were recently married on August 20, 2021. Mike was born in Newburgh, NY, son of Michael C. Sr. and Tammy Lake Phipps of Milford.  In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his sister Rachel Phipps of Milford; his maternal grandmother Cele Cimorelli of New Windsor, NY.; parents-in-law Karen Douglas and Chuck Northern of Martinsburg; brother-in-law Gavin Northern of Martinsburg; sister-in-law Carrie Northern and three nephews of Martinsburg. He will be remembered by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; including his cousin/dear friend Paul Mongelli, Jr. and wife Jill of New Windsor, NY. Best friends Neal and Amanda Strausser; as well as his goddaughter Bailey Mae Strausser.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Jack and Sandra Phipps, his Mimi that would call him “Sonny Boy”; his maternal grandfather Tony Cimorelli, his Papa who called him “Papa’s Hot Shot”.

Mike became his true self when he and his family moved to Pennsylvania, where he graduated from Delaware Valley High School's Class of 2011. Mike attended Lock Haven University where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in sports administration and was an active member of Kappa Delta Rho (KDR). He was employed by the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders since 2020 and had previously been employed by the Philadelphia Soul in the Arena Football League.

He was a lover of all sports including: The Philadelphia Eagles, Boston Bruins, NASCAR, Miami Heat, New York Yankees, and Duke basketball. Since the age of 5 Mike attended all types of concerts as he had a passion for music and going to shows, doing meet-and-greets with musicians/bands and athletes that he adored.

He loved all animals especially his pups Ghosty Boy and Gracie Girl. He was the best dog dad. He loved going to zoos and aquariums with his wife and traveling.

Above all his accomplishments, Mike was most proud of his family, whom he loved and adored. Mike was known for his big heart and being kind to all. He was a gentle giant who was still a prankster and knew how to have fun. He always had a smile on his face and his infectious laugh will forever be remembered.  He will be missed more than words can say.
