Edward D'Agostino Obituary

Edward D’Agostino, commonly known by family and friends as “Eddie” “Bampa” or “Grandpa Honey”, lit up any room he walked into during his incredible 87 years of life. He entered The Kingdom of Heaven peacefully on March 1, 2023, the Feast Day of St. David.

He was a resident of West Scranton and Naples, FL. Wherever Eddie was, his high school love and wife Evelyn Canterbury D’Agostino was by his side. They celebrated their 64 th wedding anniversary September 6, 2022.

Born in Scranton in 1936, he was the son of the late Alex and Emma Masucci D’Agostino. A graduate of West Scranton High School Class of 1953 and the University of Scranton Class of 1962. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served as a Hospital Corpsman 3 rd Class and he carried the respect he gained with him for the rest of his life. He was a retired certified medical representative of 40 years employed by Riker Labs and Novartis Pharmaceuticals. Ed was a devout Catholic and lifelong member of St. Lucy’s Parish, St. Agnes Catholic Church, and the Church of St Gregory.

His favorite part of Mass was the consecration and he peacefully passed away as the consecration of 7:00 mass played in the background. His son David A. tragically passed on October 30, 1982. David was the first tissue donor in the state of Pennsylvania. This inspired Eddie to become very active in all phases of tissue donation. He was a dedicated board member of the PA Regional Tissue Bank presently known as MTF and also the Robert P. Casey Organ and Tissue Donation Advisory Committees. The Country Club of Scranton was an important part of Eddie’s life for over 60 years and where he also served as former president and board member. Much of his time revolved around his passion for the game of golf; whether he was playing with friends, watching his grandsons compete, or enjoying the camaraderie on a summer night. Last year while golfing with his family for his 86th birthday, he had a hole-in-one, the fourth in his lifetime.  Off the golf course, you would find him in the kitchen hand making pastas for his people to enjoy. Some of the best memories throughout his life were made around a dinner table passing down family traditions. He made sure to teach the new generations his secrets, in an urge to make sure they stay the same. Over the years, he met so many people yet would be able to tell you a fact about them all. He truly honored getting to know someone personally and shaking their hand after a great conversation. He was a proud and true gentleman.
