Dolores A. Kearns, 90, of Dunmore, left this earth on Friday morning at Hospice of the Sacred Heart to be with her beloved husband Robert who died June 14, 1994.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Ann T. Wojewodski Svetlovics, she was a graduate of South Scranton Catholic High School where she met the love of her life, and not long after, were married and started their family. Later on, after her children had grown, she started to work with him at Scranton Motor Parts as office manager before retiring. She was also a member of the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers. Additionally, she served as board president of the Northeastern Chapter of the Lupus Foundation of America. The Scranton Times saluted her as its Personality of the Week for her work with the foundation. She was an active member of Christ the King Church before its closing when she then rejoined the former Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary Church.
Surviving is a son, Robert S. Kearns of Dunmore; daughters Mrs. Donna Wegforth of Dunmore, and Mrs. Patricia Stang and husband Lee of Sun City West, AZ. Also her greatest joy in life was spending time with her 3 grandchildren, Sara Kane, Megan Williams and husband Jim, and Karl Wegforth and wife Ellen; 8 great-grandchildren, Ciara, Kyle, and Alex Cupelli; Hunter, Elaina, and Austin Wegforth; and James and Abigail Williams; 2 great-great-grandchildren, Scarlett Grace and Samuel Grant Morgan; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Karl Wegforth.
The funeral will be Friday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, 1217 Prospect Ave., Scranton. Interment, Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Cemetery, Minooka.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
