Dennis O’Keefe, 79, Dunmore, died Aug 3rd in the Dunmore Health Care Center. Born in Scranton, he was a 1961 graduate of Dunmore High School and served honorably in the United States Army, 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper. Prior to retirement he proudly served the Commonwealth as a Pennsylvania State Trooper for 28 years, afterwards working many years as security at Bank of America.
He took great pride in his years of service as a Pennsylvania State Trooper and being a member of the PSP rodeo early in his career. Dennis joyfully spent his free time over the years doing at least one of his favorite things… family time on Lake Wallenpaupack and Lake George camping and boating, hunting, fishing, Harley Davidson riding with friends and law enforcement motorcycle club Road Dawgs, and most recently, various road trips with his buddies in his truck. He treasured his many friends who accompanied him on his adventures.
He was proceeded in death by his cherished aunt, Helen Ruane, grandparents Thomas and Helen Keefe, and mother Margaret Case.
Surviving is daughter Dawn O’Keefe and James Fox of Throop; daughter Denise Cocco and husband Joseph, and grandsons Joey and Nic Cocco, all of Jefferson Township.
A private funeral service and burial will be held in the Cathedral Cemetery in Scranton at the convenience of his family. Arrangements entrusted to the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc.
