Catherine Ann (O'Laughlin) Gilroy

Catherine Ann Gilroy, Clarks Summit, died Friday at her residence after a long battle with Huntingtons Disease. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of Robert O’Laughlin, Lake Winola, and the late Sherri Miller O’Laughlin. Prior to her retirement, she was an officer with the Scranton Police Department.

Cathy had a passion for traveling. She enjoyed many years traveling the country in her motorhome. She had a love for gem mining in the North Carolina Mountains. Cathy experienced some of her fondest memories there with her beloved dog, Abby.

Also surviving is a daughter, Kayla Gilroy and her two children Max and Millie Kanuch; sisters Jennifer Bender and husband David, Samantha Zarychta and husband Michael, Kristy Walter and companion Dave Mayer, Meggan O'Laughlin, and Kelly Thomas and husband Kyle; stepmother Catherine Laskowski; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends and family may call Thursday from 4-6 p.m. at Savino Traditional Funerals and Cremation Care, 157 S. Main Ave., West Scranton. Carl J. Savino, Jr., Supervisor.

A blessing service will be held at 6 p.m.
