Carol Dickstein Nogi

Carol Dickstein Nogi, of Scarsdale, NY and formerly Clarks Summit, passed away on August 19, 2026.  Mrs. Nogi was 84 years old.

Carol Dickstein was born in Scranton on July 25, 1942.  She attended Scranton Central High School.  She earned her undergraduate degree from Penn State in 1964 and her master’s degree in English from the University of Scranton in 1966. 

Carol was passionate about her work with Hadassah, where she served as President and Temple Israel, tutoring English to Russian Jewish immigrants.  She advocated for many local organizations focused on charitable activities in Northeastern Pennsylvania, especially within the Jewish community. In 1965, Carol married her elementary school sweetheart, Jacob Nogi. With Jack, Carol was absolute in her commitment to her family and after a lucrative stint in the San Francisco insurance industry, she committed her life to her children and grandchildren. She was a loving mother and grandmother and friend to all. 

She is survived by her two children and their spouses, Dr. Jennifer Nogi (Dr. Adam Hirsch) and Eugene Nogi (Alison Nogi), and five grandchildren, Matthew Hirsch, Lexi Hirsch, Brett Nogi, Nicholas Nogi, and Alexander Nogi.

She was predeceased by her husband, her brother Robert Dickstein, and her parents Ruth and Herbert Dickstein. Carol took immense pleasure in her family, especially her grandchildren. She greatly enjoyed international travel with family, was a master bridge player and voracious reader. She loved to laugh and had a terrific sense of humor.  Just as Carol would finish her calls with family, we will forever miss you, love you.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 20 at the Dickson City Jewish Cemetery.
