Carmine Garafolo, 76, a resident of Scranton for nearly 35 years, passed away peacefully at home on Friday morning.
Born in Naples, Italy, son of the late Angelo and Teresa Giammarino Garofalo, he immigrated to the United States at the age of sixteen, but always held fast to his Italian heritage by loving wine, traditional music, and the countryside. He enjoyed watching soccer, especially on Saturdays and Sundays when it was on all day. A social guy, he was still quiet in nature, and liked the time spent tending to his vegetable and flower gardens. He adored his dog Jada, who had been his constant companion until her passing earlier this year. Carmine was employed as a butcher by Pasqualicchio Brothers, Inc., and even after his retirement, he continued to work for them part time.
Surviving are his daughters, Teresa Budek, and Maria Falco and husband Pat; his grandchildren Alexandria, Bianca, Madison, Francesco, Pasquale, and Gemma; and his siblings Maria Rocco and Anthony Garofalo.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Savino Traditional Funerals and Cremation Care, 157 S. Main St., Scranton, PA 18504, with a blessing service beginning at 1 p.m.
