Thomas M. Zielinski, Sr., 82, Dunmore, died Tuesday in Geisinger-Community Medical Center. He and his wife, the former Marie Serrenti, had celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on November 22.
Born in Forest City, son of the late Stanley and Julia Zielinski, Tom graduated from Jessup High School and served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Dunmore and, before retirement, was employed at RCA/Thomson Electronics in Dunmore. He also worked at the former Scranton Garment. His hobbies included hunting and fishing and he believed that work is for people who don’t know how to fish.

Surviving are a daughter, Loriann Edwards, Dunmore; three sons, Thomas M. Zielinski and his wife, Debbie, Dunmore; Jim Zielinski and his wife, Maria, Archbald; and Jeff Zielinski, Dunmore; nine grandchildren, Scott Edwards; Jake Edwards and his partner, Stephanie; Dean Edwards; Christopher Zielinski and his wife, Kate; Keith Zielinski and his wife, Laura; Craig Zielinski and his girlfriend, Kayla; and Kyle, Leah and Cara Zielinski; five great-grandchildren, Ben, Nathan, Alli, Matthew and Claire Zielinski.
The funeral will be Friday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 East Drinker St., Dunmore, with Service of the Word to be held at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Chestnut Street, Dunmore. Interment to follow in the Dunmore Cemetery.
Friends may call today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
His family would like to thank the emergency room staff and ICU staff at Geisinger-Community Care Center for the compassion and care shown to Tom and his family.

Lori I am sorry to hear of your loss. To lose a parent, is hard, but I think for a daughter to lose her dad it's even harder. There is always that special bond between daddy and his little girl. Prayers to all the family for your loss.
