Stanley Ofcharsky, 79, Dunmore, died Saturday in Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. He and his wife, the former Marion Capoccia, would have celebrated 53 years of marriage on Wednesday.
Born in Olyphant, son of the late Joseph and Mary Tranovich Ofcharsky, he was a graduate of Olyphant High School and served in the Air Force.
He enjoyed golfing, especially with his league on Tuesdays. He also enjoyed crossword puzzles, was an avid reader and loved to make and serve a good Manhattan. He was also a Boston Red Sox and New York Giants fan.
He and his wife, Marion, did extensive traveling in the United States and overseas. Before retirement, he was employed as a machinist at Sprague and Henwood Drilling, Scranton, and M.A.S.S. Industries, Old Forge. He was a loving husband, brother, uncle and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Also surviving are a sister, Josephine Sienkiewicz, Avon Park, Fla.; and nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Anna Ofcharsky, Rosemarie Sostak, Mary Zaleski, Eleanor Glovinski and infant, Mary; and brothers, John Ofcharsky, George Owczarski, Jacob Ofcharsky and infants, Stanley, Edward and Anthony.
The funeral will be Thursday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith Street, Dunmore. Interment to follow in Dunmore Cemetery.
