Samuel Jack Goosay, 72, of Saylorsburg, Pa. and formerly of Scranton, died Friday evening in the Hospice House of Monroe, East Stroudsburg, Pa. He is survived by his wife, the former Ellen Zakar. The couple would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on June12th.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Sol Goosay and Olga Pytell. He was a Navy veteran and served during the Vietnam War. He attended the University of Scranton and was the owner of the former Penn Auto Parts in Scranton and the former Finishing Touches and the World of Stamps and Coins in Tannersville, Pa.
He was an avid stamp collector and his favorite hobby was playing Bridge. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Also surviving is a son; Michael and wife Jennifer, Chester, New Jersey. A daughter; Natalie Turpan and husband Peter, North Caldwell, New Jersey. Grandchildren; Olivia and Julia Goosay and Justin and Brady Turpan. A mother-in-law; Dorothy Zakar, Clarks Summit and a brother-in-law; Steven Zakar and his wife Linda, Boston, Massachusetts. Several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a sister; Barbara Wish.
The funeral will be Monday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc. 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore with a service by Rabbi Moshe Saks at 1:00pm in the funeral home.
Interment, Temple Israel Cemetery, Dunmore.
Friends may call at noon until the time of service.
Shiva will be held at the family’s residence in Saylorsburg on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm.
