Salvatore “Sam” A. Fortese, 60, Dunmore, died Thursday morning from complications from leukemia. He and his wife the former Eileen McKenna had celebrated their 33rd Wedding anniversary on June 30th.

My deepest sympathy to the Fortese Family. I was a year ahead of Sam in high school and being such a small place, everyone knew everyone. I can see him now with his businessman-like walk and demeanor. He was always a really nice guy. I am sorry that you had to lose him at such a young age, but he is no longer in pain and now you have an angel to watch over all of you.

Sam,you were a beautiful soul, a graceful person with a smile that lit up rooms. May you rest in peace. I enjoyed seeing you laugh, joke, and become the wonderful father you were to Ry & Britty. I know you were the greatest friend to Eileen, and her rock. You will be missed forever. Rest in peace Sam.
Love to all and may your faith get you through this time.

The loss of Sam

We are all so heartbroken over the loss of Sam. I wanted to come very badly, but our vehicle is not running at the moment, and there was no decent vehicle to borrow for such a long trip. My sisters and I had a disagreement and they have refused to allow me to ride with them. I loved Sam very much- he always made me smile. I love all of you too and am praying for you. I am sending a gift to try to help in some small way. Please know that I really tried to be there, but circumstances just wouldn't allow it.My love to all.

When I think of Sam, even in this time of great sadness, I have to smile. Sam always made going to work fun, with his jokes and his pranks. He will truly be missed.
