Ruth Gromer Lebowitz, 91, a lifelong resident of Scranton, left us on Friday. She was a loving wife of more than 50 years to the late Sidney Lebowitz.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Sarah Harris Gromer. Ruth spent several years at Elan Gardens, Clarks Summit, along with her devoted husband. Most recently, she had resided in the Jewish Home of Eastern Pa., where the family would like to express their thanks for its wonderful care and making her final days comfortable.
A graduate of Scranton Technical High School, she was an employee of COLTS transit until her retirement.
In her youth, Ruth was an avid tennis player and swimmer.
Ruth and Sidney enjoyed travel and often spent time visiting family in California and Florida.
Ruth was a loving and compassionate mother of two sons, Mark, Los Angeles, Calif.; and Gary, Tampa, Fla.; and her grandson, Corey, Los Angeles.
Also surviving are a sister, Lee Gromer, Scranton; as well as nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by several siblings.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, April 8, at 1 p.m. in the Dalton Jewish Cemetery by Rabbi Dovid Saks.
Shiva will be observed from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 8, at the Jewish Home of Eastern Pa., 1101 Vine St., Scranton. All are invited.
