Regina "Jean" Carey, 94, of Dunmore, died peacefully Tuesday after an illness at the Mountain View Care Center, Scranton, where she had resided for the last three years. She was married for 42 years to Francis "Max" Carey, before his death on Aug. 9, 1992.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Frank and Angela Healey Pierce, she was a graduate of Marywood Seminary and had been a devoted member of St. Paul's Church. Before retirement, she was employed at Industrial Electronics, Scranton.
With a kind and loving spirit, she was deeply involved in all aspects of her children's and grandchildren's lives.
Regina's family would like to thank the administration and staff of the Mountain View Care Center for their loving and dedicated care of our mother for the last years of her life.
Surviving are a daughter, Sue Flanagan and husband, Jim, Wellington, Fla.; two sons, Tom Carey and wife, Lori, Dunmore; and Jim Carey and wife, Cathy, Alexandria, Va.; 10 grandchildren, Jim Flanagan, Denver, Colo.; Michael Flanagan and wife, Jill, Jacksonville, Fla.; Sister Kathryn Flanagan, Naples, Fla.; Lauren Flanagan, Jacksonville, Fla.; Alison Carey, Philadelphia; Jackie Carey, New York City; Chris Carey, Alexandria, Va.; Alicia Carey, Kelliann Carey and Kayleigh Carey, all of Dunmore; two great-grandchildren, Emily and Sean Flanagan, Jacksonville, Fla.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Angela "Tish" Pierce and Mary Jane Pierce; and a brother, Jim Pierce.
The funeral will be Friday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith Street, Dunmore. Interment in St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow, will be at the convenience of the family.
