Philip T. Fletcher Sr., 79, of Dunmore, died Wednesday evening in Allied Skilled Nursing Center, Scranton. His wife, Joan Marie Fletcher, died Nov. 4, 1999.

Born in Dunmore, son of the late Ralph and Angela Forgione Fletcher, he was a graduate of Dunmore High School and a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish, Dunmore. Before retirement, he was a truck driver for 47 years.

He was a member of Elmhurst Country Club for 40 years, and was an avid golfer. He was a sports fan, and especially supported the Dunmore Bucks, the Penn State Nittany Lions, the New York Giants and the St. Louis Cardinals. He was proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren for all of their accomplishments. He had a special relationship with his cousin, Eleanor Scalese, over the years. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Surviving are daughters, Marianne Fletcher, San Antonio, Texas; and Carol Verrastro and her husband, Ralph, Dunmore; sons, Ralph and wife, Toni; and Philip Jr., all of Dunmore; grandchildren, Gary Fletcher and wife, Christine, Dickson City; Stephanie Fletcher, Scranton; Alison Langone-Scott and husband, George, San Antonio; Carissa Verrastro, Liverpool, N.Y.; Bianca Verrastro, Dunmore; and Gabriella and Anthony Fletcher, Dunmore; and great-grandchildren, Gianna, Hannah, Cayden and Sadie.

He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan Fletcher, who died Feb. 23, 2010.

The funeral will be Saturday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Rocco's Church, Kurtz Street, in the Bunker Hill section of Dunmore. Interment, Dunmore Cemetery.

Friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, South Abington Twp., PA 18411.
