Peter J. Mecca, 93, formerly from Dunmore, died Thursday morning at the Laurels Retirement Community in Hazleton.  He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Catherine M. Coviello, in 2005.

Born in Scranton, son of the late Peter and Angela Marie Mecca, he was a graduate of Dunmore High School, and was a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish, Dunmore.  He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Prior to retirement he worked as service manager at Crea Cadillac.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and uncle who enjoyed being with his family and will be dearly missed.  He enjoyed riding horses, watching old westerns on television, and listening to music. 

Surviving is a son, Peter M. Mecca and his wife Donna, Herndon, VA, two daughters, Karen Meshkofski and her husband Danny, Drums, and Melissa Talarico, Jessup; four grandchildren, Enrico Marjorino, Allison Talarico, Katelyn and Angela Mecca; a sister, Angela McCarty; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his two sisters and six brothers. 

The funeral will be Tuesday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in the St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith St., Dunmore.  Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst Township.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4-7 p.m.

Sorry to hear of Pete's passing. I worked for Pete at Crea as my first job as a tech and now, 43 years later I am a service manager also. Thank You Pete. Rest Peacefully. Paul K.
