Odessa Levine, 91, of Waverly Twp., died Thursday at Regional Hospital of Scranton. She was married to Meyer Levine for 69 years until he predeceased her in October 2017.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Leon and Miriam Glickfield Goldman, she graduated from Scranton Central High School with honors, and went on to Marywood College where she studied education and art. She was an accomplished watercolorist.
Odessa worked until retirement at the family business, Diamond Glass Works. She was a member of Beth Shalom Synagogue and was a life member of its sisterhood, the Jewish Home Auxiliary, the Jewish War Veterans Auxiliary and a member of Jewish Family Services. Also, she worked with Russian Jewish immigrants, teaching English and helping to assimilate them into the community.
She is survived by two sons, Arthur and his wife, Cathy; and Kenneth and his wife, Rose; four grandchildren, Jonathan, Stephanie, Joshua and Marisa; and three great-grandchildren, Jackson, Lilly and Eli; a brother, Harold Goldman; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her sister, Esther Kurlancheek.
The funeral will be today with services at 11 a.m. in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, by Rabbi Daniel Swartz and Cantor Vladimir Aronzon.
There will be no shiva. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
