Norma Rubin-Lipman, 95, of Scranton, died Saturday evening at home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Lipman, in 2010.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Samuel and Nettie Sachs Rubin, she was a graduate of Scranton Central High School and the Powell School of Business. She was a member of Temple Israel and for many years was employed as a fashion coordinator at Vincent's, Scranton.
An avid bridge player and former Girl Scout leader for many years she was proud to have set by example to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren not to be prejudiced or judgmental toward others.
Surviving are a daughter, Gwynne Safier and husband, Dr. Gary Safier, Randolph, N.J.; a son, Joseph Lipman, Scranton; three grandchildren, Nycci Nellis and husband, David; attorney Regan Safier and husband, Duane Smith; and Dr. Shannon Safier and wife, Dr. Tracie Safier; 12 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the Dalton Jewish Cemetery by Rabbi Moshe Saks and Cantor Vladimir Aronzon.
Shiva will be observed at the family residence, 602 Taylor Ave., Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 7 to 9.
