In Loving Memory of Michael J. Falzone
Michael J. FalzoneDunmore, PA September 14, 1953 ~ November 17, 2018 Date of Service: November 26, 2018
Michael J. Falzone, 65, a lifelong resident of Dunmore died Saturday, Nov. 17th at Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, the Former Elaine J. Novak.
Born in Scranton on Sept. 14, 1953, Michael was the son of the late Anthony S. and Barbara (Bertha) Evancho Falzone. He was a graduate of Dunmore High School, Class of 1971 and attended Keystone Junior College. Before retiring due to his illness, Michael was employed by the Dunmore Borough, Dept. of Public Works for 43 years, with the last 10 years working at the Dunmore Community Center as head of maintenance.
Michael was multi-talented in many areas, from woodworking, gardening, working on and building computers, all self-taught. He loved classic rock music of the 60’s and 70’s, watching the History, Discovery, and Class Car Channels. He also enjoyed playing and teasing his sister’s dogs.
Anyone who knew Michael knew his witty character and verbal humor, always having a quick and “sarcastic/sassy” comeback. He will be greatly missed by his family.
Michael’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore, for all of their care and compassion during his final days. We are also grateful to Dr. William Heim and his staff, especially Trisha.
Also surviving is a sister, Barbara F. Castelletti and husband, Frank Surdy, Scranton; many cousins, and Barbara’s stepdaughters, Nicole, Cheryl, and Kristin.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, John and Helen Novak, his aunts and uncles, and a few cousins.
The funeral will be Monday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 801 Taylor Ave., Scranton. Interment will follow in Dunmore Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
