Michael D. Sanders, 32, Dunmore, died Sunday evening in Geisinger-Community Medical Center from injuries sustained from being hit by a vehicle after a concert on Montage Mountain. His wife is the former Courtney Fream.
Born in Scranton he was the son of Michael and Carolyn Mecca Sanders of Dunmore. He was a graduate of Dunmore High School Class of 1999 and Johnson College. He was self-employed owner of Sanders Remodeling.
Michael was a loving, happy, always joking, do anything for anyone type of person. His treasures were his family and specially his three daughters Michelle, Alyssa, and Skye. He will be missed more than words can ever express.
His enjoyments included football as he was a San Francisco 49ers fan and had played football as a child for the Dunmore Oilers and in High School for the Dunmore Bucks. In addition he played Dunmore Little Baseball and Biddy Basketball for many years growing up. He enjoyed holidays especially Christmas and Halloween where he would decorate for all children to enjoy. His passion and gift was his mechanical abilities. He loved building and repairing vehicles such as his truck and traveling to various car shows with his family.
Also surviving are three daughters, Michelle, Alyssa, and Skye at home, a sister Stephanie Sanders, Dunmore, maternal grandparents, Vince and Carm Mecca Sr., Dunmore, paternal grandparents, Robert and Dorothea Sanders, Moscow, mother in law Patty Mongan and her husband Kenny, Martinsburg, West Virginia, and a father in law Michael Fream and his wife Sue, Martinsburg, West Virginia, several aunts, uncles, friends and cousins including Scott Mecca who was more of a brother to Michael.
He was preceded in death by an uncle Vince Mecca Jr. who died in November.
The funeral will be Friday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc. 318 East Drinker Street in Dunmore with mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church in Dunmore. Interment will follow in St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow.
