Mary Kaminski, 87, of Dunmore, died Wednesday morning in V.N.A. Hospice at Geisinger-Community Medical Center. She and her husband, John Kaminski, Sr., were married July 4, 1949 and had celebrated 65 years together.
Born in Dunmore, daughter of the late Frank and Mary Martorano DeCarlo, she was educated in Dunmore public schools and was a member of SS. Anthony and Rocco Parish. Prior to retirement, she worked as a seamstress at T.N.T. Fashions and also enjoyed sewing and crocheting as a hobby. Mary was an excellent cook and would make beautiful floral arrangements to decorate the family table. She loved traveling and took many trips over the world with her husband.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Salvatore Lawrence and Marian Anticoli as well as the nurses and staff of Celtic Hospice particularly Amy and Liz for all of the care shown to Mary throughout her illness.
Also surviving is a son, John Kaminski, Jr. and wife MaryAnn, S. Abington Township; a daughter, Mary Ann Sklanka and husband Eugene, Blakely; grandchildren Scott Kaminski, Eugene Sklanka, John Kaminski and fiancée Laura Quintiliani, and Jennifer Pierson and husband Mark; great-grandchildren Myla and Miranda Pierson; sisters Angie Saitta, Pittston; and Theresa Falcone, Dunmore; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her five brothers and two sisters.
The funeral will be Saturday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with mass at 9:30 a.m. in the St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith St., Dunmore. Interment to follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Dunmore. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday evening from 4-7 p.m.
