Marilyn C. Sanford, 76, of Dunmore, passed away peacefully at Moses Taylor Hospital on Sunday evening.

She was the wife of Philip J. Sanford, who died in 1989.

Born in Scranton on May 9, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Anna Mitukiewicz Bubness. Marilyn was a lifelong resident of Dunmore, graduating from Dunmore High School in 1958, and then Keystone Junior College, where she studied medical lab technology. Before retirement, she was employed for many years as a lab technician at Scranton's Mercy Hospital.

Marilyn had a wonderful sense of humor and always took interest in other people, engaging in lively conversation with family and friends and enjoyed movies and shopping. Her son and extended family members would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Moses Taylor for all of its attention, compassion and concern.

She is survived by her son, Brian, of Dunmore; her sisters, Joan Ballantyne and husband, Bill, of Marshallton, Pa.; and Nancy O'Connell and husband, Joseph, of Jupiter, Fla.; and nephews.

Marilyn was also preceded in death by a niece, Karen O'Connell.

A funeral service will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore. Family and friends may call from noon until the time of service. Interment, Dunmore Cemetery.

As a classmate from the class of 58, I had the pleasure of knowing Marilyn as a wonderful and caring person. That she and her family lived across from my parents, on W Grove St, was definitely a plus. May she rest in peace, amen.
