In Remembrance of Marie "Tillie" Lutz

Marie "Tillie" Lutz

Dunmore, PA September 11, 1915 ~ September 29, 2014 Date of Service: October 3, 2014

Marie “Tillie” Ambrosini Genello Lutz, 99, of Dunmore, died peacefully in her home on Monday surrounded by her family after a brief illness.  She was preceded in death by her first husband, Vito Genello, and her second husband, Edward Lutz.

Born in Scranton on September 11, 1915, Tillie was the daughter of the late Federico and Adelina Polloni Ambrosini, and stepdaughter of the late Frank Stefanelli.  Her faith was very dear to her and she prayed and read her Bible every day.  She was a member of the Green Ridge Assembly of God Church and its Women’s Group.  Before her retirement, she worked for Miracle Mart/King’s Department Store for many years.  She enjoyed traveling and liked to talk about her trips to Italy, the Holy Land and Hawaii.  Until her recent illness, she didn’t miss the opportunity to go on a bus trip or to dinner with the ladies from church, getting on a plane to Florida to visit with her son, Ed, or getting her hair done every Friday at MaryAnn Hartshorn’s.  She was a Yankees fan all her life and loved watching the games.

Her family would like to thank all her neighbors on Ridge Avenue for their help and companionship over the years, especially Frannie, Josie and Jim, and Sarah.  A special thank you to Dr. Alocci for his care over the past several years for all the time he spent talking about Italy and speaking Italian to Tillie.  To the Genello and Thomas families for always including her in holiday gatherings and family events, she loved you all very much.  Our gratitude to the nurses and aides from Traditional Home Health and Hospice, and last, but not least, to Natalie, her caregiver.  We can’t thank you for all the love and kindness you have shown our mother.

Tillie is survived by a son, Ralph Genello, daughter Marie Thomas and husband Samuel, twin sons David Lutz and wife Renee and Edward Lutz and fiancée Patty Hill, a stepson George Lutz and wife Barbara, a stepdaughter Beverly Evans and husband Robert, a sister Della Orazzi, stepsister Claire Moon, 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and many special nieces and nephews.

Tillie was preceded in death by brothers Louis and Dario Ambrosini, stepbrothers Raymond, Oscar and Ossie Stefanelli, stepsister Maresita Kuhn, great-grandson Jamie Thomas, daughter-in-law Dora Genello, brother-in-law Joseph Orazzi, and nephews Louis Orazzi and Billy Weller.

The funeral will be Friday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with a service at 10 a.m. by Rev. David Twiss in the Green Ridge Assembly of God Church, 825 Green Ridge St., Scranton.   Interment to follow in the Dunmore Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 4-7 p.m.

I worked with Tillie at Miracle Mart/Kings and it's nice that she lived so long in such a loving family. She was a special lady.

I am sorry for your loss. I met Tillie when I worked at Kings dept. store. It was a long time ago and I was just out of high school. I remember her as very kind and a lot of fun.
May she rest in peace. I will keep her in my prayers.
