Marian E. Schofield, 93, Dunmore, died early Friday morning in Abington Manor where she has resided for that last several years. She was the wife of the late Joseph Schofield who died December 1975. They had been married for 24 years.
Born September 28, 1924 in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Bessie Scanlon O’Hara. Marian was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Dunmore and a graduate of Dunmore High School Class of 1942.
Prior to retirement she was worked for 33 happy years at Anemostat Products and prior to that she had been employed at both J.C. Penny and Household Finance.
Surviving are a niece, Karen Johnson and her husband Ralph, Athens, GA who were her caregivers. They would like to thank the nurses and staff at Abington Manor, for the love and care provided to Marian while she was a resident with them. Also surviving are several other nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother Francis and his wife Olga and their son Joseph O’Hara, a brother James and his wife Nan and their son James O’Hara Jr., and a sister Betty Jane Rakowski and her husband Sgt. Major Edward Rakowski who died while in the Army while stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 11AM in St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Chestnut Street in Dunmore. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery in Dunmore. As per Marian’s wishes there is no visitation.
