Marguerite M. “Peggy” Sabia, 83, Dunmore, died Thursday evening in the Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton, surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband Domenick C. “Dee” Sabia who died October 10, 2003.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Samuel and Mary Volivitch Roach, she was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish. Peggy enjoyed shopping, trips to the casino and playing computer games, and was also a member of the Red Hat Society. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed by all, including her beloved pet Yorkie, Snuggles.
Surviving is a son, Donato A. “Jeep” Sabia and wife Bernadine, Dunmore; a daughter Donna Sabia and husband Ross Karzenoski, Dunmore; five grandchildren, Joseph Fazio, Domenick Fazio and wife Maria, Danny Sabia, Carolyn Sabia, and Carmen Fazio and wife Rekha; five great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Anthony; a sister, Shirley Nonnenberg; and brothers Matthias and George Torda.
The funeral will be Monday with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Chestnut St., Dunmore. Friends will be received at the church from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service. Interment in Dunmore Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
