Margaret Esgro, 92, died Wednesday morning in Allied Services Hospice Center, Scranton.  Her husband, the late Peter James Esgro, Sr. to whom she was married for 52 years, died May 22, 2005. 

Born in Dunmore, the last surviving child of Gaetano and Jennie Alimo Amico, she attended Dunmore High School and was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish.  She was a loving wife, mother, and friend who spent countless hours in the kitchen preparing and giving away homemade foods, as she always adoringly took care of everyone.  She also loved vacationing with her husband to Florida and Myrtle Beach, her favorite places.

Surviving is her son, Peter J. Esgro, Jr. and partner David Marshall of Milford; and her daughter, Sharon Esgro Altenhain and husband Ron of Dunmore; grandchildren, Marlo Wright and husband Eric, Guy Esgro, Holly Esgro, Nikki Hudak, Ryan Altenhain, and Janette Altenhain; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Amber, Cari, and Camron; as well as nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Paul Michael Esgro who died in 2012; and her nine siblings.

Her family wishes to extend their gratitude to the nurses and staff at Allied Services Hospice Center for all of the compassion shown to Margaret during her times of need. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Chestnut St., Dunmore.  Private entombment in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton. 

Friends may call on Friday morning directly at the church from 8:30 a.m. until the time of mass.

We were so saddened to read that Aunt Margie had passed. I will always remember her her for that sweet smile, her wonderful cookies, warm heart and great stories. My thoughts are with you all and may God keep you close in this difficult time. Sending Love and prayers,to you all. The McCarthy Family

Dear Peter, Sharon and family,

I'm so sorry and to hear about the loss of Aunt Margie. I will always remember the fun times and all of the laughs we had when we were together as a family. Those memories I will always cherish as well as her amazing cooking and her kind and loving nature. Her life is truly one to be celebrated.
