Kingston, PA September 5, 1942 ~ February 13, 2015 Date of Service: February 15, 2015Lillian Coury Kornblatt of Kingston died Friday at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital. Her husband is Marshall I. Kornblatt.
She was born in Scranton, daughter of the late Joseph and Ruth Markwith Coury. Lillian attended West Side High School and Pratt Institute in New York. She was active in the Scranton area as a decorator for several retail establishments as well as the catering director at the Hotel Casey. She was married in January 1975 to Marshall Kornblatt of Wilkes-Barre and they established their home in Kingston. She began a life of volunteering for many local institutions including Wilkes-Barre General Hospital and Ohav Zedek Sisterhood and was active in the founding of Congregation Bais Tzvi Yosef in Kingston. She was an extraordinary cook, delighting guests with her Middle Eastern creations. She was well known for her style and color and assisted numerous friends with redecorating and remodeling home projects. Lillian was known to be caring, sensitive and generous. There was rarely a favor refused. She will be missed by many.
In addition to her husband Marshall, she is survived by her son Joseph, his wife Georgia and their children Chava and Shlomo, whom Lillian adored; her sister Diane Jenkins of Scranton and her brother Ralph Coury of Maryland.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday in the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore. Interment will be in Dalton Jewish Cemetery. Shiva will be observed at the family home, 339 Stanley Drive, Kingston PA 18704 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. beginning Sunday evening through Friday morning.
